Science

Please ask your child if he or she turned in the science observation paper. It had the days of the week and what type of soil was used in the plant, etc. We have about 10 students who either didn't turn it in or didn't do it. I will ask tomorrow as a class. I would hate to see those students get a 0 on that part of the project.

Reading

This week is always a favorite for many students. We are talking about dogs and reading a story called, "Dear Mrs. Larue". It is a fun story with lots of humor. We talked about Drawing Conclusions as you read. Many people in our class have dogs as we came to find out today. We shared a few funny stories, as well.

P/T Conference Schedule

We still have about 9 students that haven't scheduled a conference time. Please be sure to ask your child to hand you the form they received.

Monday (January 23)

The kids' plants (grass) are due back to school on Monday. I will be reminding the students today. We will store them near the window at school to keep them growing.

P/T Conference Schedule

The conference schedule was sent home yesterday. I received 10 back today. If you didn't see it yesterday look for it this weekend.

Readiness Test

The students brought home a Math Readiness test last night. Some of the students were really worried because they didn't already know the material. I told them to think of it as a spelling pretest. They weren't going to be graded on them. It was to show what they already know. I had them take it home and correct any items they missed by using their books and resources at home. There was some confusion from a few students because they weren't paying attention during the five explanations I gave them throughout the day. Don't worry if they didn't know all the material yet, they will very soon.

Welcome Back

It has been awhile. We are back into the swing of things and preparing for the second half of the year. This week is our last of the quarter, so we are finishing work and trying to move ahead. Parent / Teacher Conferences are on the horizon. You can look for a sign-up sheet in the near future. We have a few days off in the next few weeks as well. Those are listed under the important dates section.
