Tonight's Homework

The students were sent home with their reading books. They are to read pages 253-263. Then they are to use the piece of blank paper they received in class to answer the question on page 257. Each student wrote this in his/her assignment book for reference.

Topic 5 Math Test

We spent some time today playing a math review game of Jeopardy. Most of the information that will be on the test was discussed today in class.

Skills that will be on the test are multiplying two, three, and four digit numbers by a one digit number. Also, estimating a product in a multiplication number sentence. Finally, multiplying extended facts (20 x 8=160).

Math Homework Tonight

Tonight's homework is slightly different than the students are used to. They are to complete p.122 #8-24 even only. The directions tell them to find the product, but I explained to the students they need to make an estimate and find the actual product for each problem when it is appropriate.

For Example:

Actual Product:
349 x 8 =    2,792

Estimate (Round the larger number to the largest place value):
300 x 8 = 2,400
